Systems and Communication at Tate Modem brings together the works of ten different artists from Buenos Aires, a major hub for conceptual and mail art. Radical forms of art that have emerged in the 1960s-1970s have influenced the artists’ work by drifting the focus from object to culture and the outer world. This form of art is known as Systems Art that has emerged as part of the conceptual art movement. It reflects on natural and social systems, and examines the way ideas and images are circulated within society. The artists at the exhibition have chosen to explore the central themes of mass media, communications and organisational systems as the main medium that has influenced the circulation of ruling ideas and beliefs within their societies; dictatorship in the 1960s.
